We live in an older home that holds many good memories for me as it used to be my family cottage. The kitchen, however, was very tiny with limited cupboard space and a small area to move around in. I felt that something had to change, and spoke to Alyson from the Elizabeth Smith Design Studio to see how we could transform the space into something roomier and beautiful, while preserving the character of the original cottage. It was a tricky task since it involved opening up the kitchen wall to the living room which still has the original cottage decor. In addition to that, we already had some cupboards picked out for the kitchen and we wanted to keep the cost of the renovation reasonable.

Right from the get-go, I felt that Alyson knew exactly how to guide us. After asking us what features were the most important to us, she provided a variety of ideas to start with and gave us time to consider what we liked the best. Seeing the options from the layouts and photos that she provided was an immense help; it gave us the direction we needed as we looked around to find the perfect materials to pull it all together. A few times I sent her photos of items that we were considering to buy, and she provided clear feedback regarding the look and practicality, based on the overall theme that we had chosen. She’s always happy to find things for us as well, although we really enjoyed the shopping process.

Alyson’s guidance, creativity and efficiency in the process have been priceless to us. Most of all, we greatly appreciate her enthusiasm for the work that she does. We are very excited for our new interior design that is in process, and highly recommend Alyson for her interior design know-how. The entire process has been enjoyable and we love every decision we’ve made with her help!

We had a great experience designing our kitchen with Elizabeth Smith Design Studio. The designs that we received were well thought out and prepared. We had a number of questions that occurred weeks into the process and these were answered with ease. Our ideas were incorporated into the designs, as we worked through iterations of the final product.

Communication happened on a timely basis, and we always felt that the designer Alyson, really cared that the kitchen design met all of our needs. Cost consciousness was an issue that came up a few times and we felt that the alternatives we ended up with fit our budget. The final designs amazed us with their creativity and functional nature.

We would recommend this service very highly and intend to use it for our future plans.

We’d admired Alyson’s work for a while and when we decided we’d sell our home and search for our dream home, we knew Alyson at Elizabeth Smith Design Studio would be on our ‘short list’ of only her. Her passionate, open, easy going and straightforward way made our choice of ESD Studio very easy. Alyson helped us design our space to appeal to modern trends and bring out the best details of our home to be showcased.

From redesigning the stairs to carefully selecting and applying our kitchen backsplash, to helping us stage, decorate and select many other finishes that includes flooring, lighting and hardware, Alyson has been incredibly easy to work with and made us confident in our choices and all without needing to spend a fortune. Our home is very mid-century modern and it was refreshing to work with a designer that actively listened to us and worked with the style already in place instead of changing it completely. Alyson was professional, creative, calculated and strategic throughout. We are beyond excited to work with her in the redesign of our dream home!

I had the absolute pleasure of working with Alyson to completely redesign my entire apartment, including the living room, bedroom, closet, wardrobe, kitchen, bathroom, and basement. From the outset, Alyson demonstrated an extraordinary ability to work within a budget while maintaining an incredibly creative and imaginative approach to design.

What left me truly in awe was Alyson's skillful use of materials and her knack for finding cost-effective yet elegant solutions. She managed to incorporate a stunning new fireplace for a fraction of the expected cost, which instantly became the focal point of our living space. The result is a home that feels bright, spacious, and absolutely impeccable.

Alyson's talent also shines through in her organizational prowess. Our closet was transformed into a functional masterpiece, streamlining our daily routines. Thanks to her ingenious reconfiguration of our laundry area, I now find myself actually enjoying this once-dreaded task.

In the kitchen, Alyson worked her magic by revamping our cabinets and optimizing the layout for ultimate functionality. The pièce de résistance, however, was the brand new countertop that exudes the opulence of white and gold marble. To my amazement, it was accomplished with expertly applied contact paper, showcasing Alyson's remarkable attention to detail.

Throughout the entire process, Alyson maintained the utmost professionalism, ensuring that every aspect of the project was executed flawlessly. For those seeking a designer who can work wonders within a budget, I wholeheartedly recommend Alyson. Her talent, creativity, and dedication to her craft are nothing short of remarkable.
